Yesterday I had gone for a fashion show at the on-going Fashion week being held at the Hotel Grand Hyatt. I reached early for the show. While I was waiting there I chanced upon a conversation between 2 hip and haute women. Here are some excerpts of this great conversation :
Sheila : Hi babes., where you’ve been (muah muah). Hey nice white khadi dress !
Tina : Thanks (muah muah). Here only babes. Sorry I am late. I had gone for Anna’s at Azad.
Sheila : What’s that ? Is it a new kabab place like Ayub’s at Kala Ghoda ?
Tina : No silly, but its somewhere there only .I am talking about the Anna Hazare show going on at Azad Maidan.
Sheila : Yeah I heard about this guy.. He’s fasting na for some corruption thingy. So cool and happening. Where is this maidan ? How was it ?
Tina : It’s that ground near Bombay Gym , opp. Fashion Street There was no parking but luckily my driver pataoed a traffic cop and double parked. The ground was so dirty and mucky and my Choos also got all dirty but then it’s all for a good cause. At the show everyone was wearing white khadi. It looked so good especially with the white topis. It was amazing ! There were so many celebrities shouting away slogans and all waiting to either perform or get arrested. It was so inspiring. Damn ! I tried but didn’t get arrested.
Sheila : So sad. Sorry honey but since I read only the Bombay Times so don’t know much about this. Tell me more about this Anna Hazare. By the way is he related to Sarita Davare since he’s fasting ?
Tina : I don’t know that, but he’s an old man and fasting to get some Lokpal Bill passed in Delhi and don’t know why he got arrested. But then who cares. I think he’s related to Gandhi. No! not the cutie Rahul but the earlier one - on whom the movie was made. Speaking of bills, I heard about the bill you gals ran up at Indigo yesterday at the kitty. Wicked !
Sheila : Ya, we were discussing in the kitty also as to how this time all this Anna thingy is only at Azad Maidan. Last time those candle marches were so much fun and convenient. You walk for a while with candles and flags, click photos for Facebook and then go for drinks and dinner at a nice lounge bar.
Tina : Yup, that’s why I went today and finished it off. You know we have to go to our Karjat farmhouse for this long weekend. We were supposed to go to London but my hubby’s passport got delayed in the renewal process and even though he was willing to pay 5000 bucks to the agent to expedite this they just wouldn’t listen. So silly ! It would have been so much better. By the way whose fashion show is it today ?
Sheila : Guess what ?? A co-incidence ! Today’s fashion show by Rendell Wodricks is inspired by Anna Hazare and is based on his theme. Thin fasting anorexic models all wearing white. Let’s quickly go the bar and grab a drink before the show starts.
(At the bar )
Sheila : Hey bartender. What’s the special cocktail for today ?
Bartender : Ma’am, since it’s the Anna Hazare inspired show, today’s special is the ‘Anna-tini ‘ ~ 250ml of fasting lime juice with 60 ml of martini, 30 ml of Vodka , crushed ice and not a drop of corruption (with a smile)
Sheila : That’s great. We’ll have 2 of those.
(The gals get their drinks. The show begins and as is the tradition at the end of the show, the designer walks out with 3 ladies all wearing white khadi salwar kurtas and Anna Hazare topis)
Tina : Hey Sheila., who are these show stopper ladies Rendell is walking out with ?? Never seen them !
Sheila : Babes, the one in the centre is Mrs Kalmadi, the one on the right is Mrs. A. Raja and the one on the left with the Indian Flag is Mrs. Balwa..This show is sponsored by DB REALITY silly…cheers !
